Lipprite® and Lipprox®

Lipprite® and Lipprox® are non-woven abrasive rollers and wheels. While Lipprite® is mainly used for surface cleaning, oxide removal, decorative finishes and light deburring, Lipprox® is specifically used for deburring, edge-rounding and precision oxide removal.

About Lipprite® and Lipprox®

Abrasive non wovens consist of tangled nylon and/or polyester web with different types and grades of abrasive grit particles resin bonded to the fibres. The material has an open and flexible structure. As it wears, new abrasive is exposed to create a uniform and consistent finish, whether on a flat or slightly profiled surface.
The abrasive grit particles are usually aluminium oxide (Al2O3) or silicon carbide (SiC). The material can be used in wet and dry operations.

Osborn offers Lipprite® and Lipprox® as wheels and also as rollers.

General benefits of the non-woven material:

The three dimensional open web construction…

  • ensures a self-cleaning action
  • prevents pick-up of contamination
  • prevents generation of excessive heat or baking
  • continuously exposes abrasive particles for a uniform finish throughout the entire service life
  • permits effective contact with irregular thickness due to its density and flexibility
  • reduces/substitutes chemical treatments
  • ensures surface treatment with less rejection and improved preparation for further processing

What is Lipprite®?

Lipprite® work consistently and uniformly, wear is constant over the entire surface of the roller or wheel. The flap construction provides flexibility and adaptability to all types of profiles. The range of dimensions available presents options for many different technical applications:  rollers in widths up to 2.6 meters are used in the stainless-steel industry, smaller rollers are used for deburring and surface preparation of Printed Circuit Boards or in the ceramics industry, wheels are suitable for manual operations or precision work.

Lipprite wheels and rollers are made of non-woven abrasive flaps bonded radially to a phenolic tube. The hardness can be varied by increasing or decreasing the number of flaps. The three-dimensional open web ensures a self-cleaning action, for easy removal of surface contamination. Depending on the process, a technically defined surface result can be achieved or a visual surface. Lipprite wheels and rollers are extremely versatile tools for satin finishing operations.

Lipprite® Density and Application

The number of flaps (density) influences directly the hardness of the product and its capacity to adapt to different shapes. The grade of abrasive non-woven is selected depending on the application and desired finish.
For certain applications Osborn has developed special treatments for Lipprite® that harden the product, increase the abrasive action and extend service life even when used in a wet operation. Please contact our Technical Team for more details.

Lipprite® can be used on stationary or flatbed machines, automatic centres or robot cells, in both dry and wet operations. Lipprite® is recommended for light deburring, satin finishing, cleaning and decorative surfaces.

What is Lipprox®?

The construction of the non-woven abrasive web together with foams specially developed by Osborn, give this product a high level of consistency and precision. Lipprox® are ideal for deburring since they offer considerably longer life and higher performance than comparable products.

Lipprox® is a convolute construction, this means the non-woven abrasive web is wound around the core and simultaneously treated, resulting in a consistent hardness and level of abrasion over the life of the product. Lipprox® are ideal for deburring. It is important to take note of the arrow on the core of the wheel or roller since this indicates the operating direction.

Lipprox® Hardness & Application

Lipprox® hardness is determined by the foam type as well as the volume of non-woven that is wound around the core. Our Technical Team can offer their advice depending on your application and the desired outcome.

Lipprox® can be used on stationary machines, automatic centres or robot cells, in both wet and dry operations, depending on the application. They are acclaimed for their intense cleaning performance and uniform surface quality, removing burrs but not damaging edges or bores. The Osborn range includes a special product for the wood industry suitable for profiled parts requiring high dust removal. Please contact our Technical Team for more details.
