Whether sanding, fine sanding or intermediate lacquer sanding. Whether a simple, flat surface or a complex, uneven surface - Osborn helps with the sanding of wood.
Rough sanding:
The first coarse sanding is intended to sand down and remove larger wood splinters or fibers. When restoring wooden workpieces, paint and varnish residues can also be removed. Sanding belts with grit sizes between 40 and 60 are recommended for coarse sanding. Work in the direction of the grain. To reduce the thermal effect on the wood you should work with low and constant contact pressure. This ensures constant material removal and prevents the unintentional creation of hollows and unevenness. It also helps to work as long as possible, as frequently setting the tool down can lead to edges and steps in the surface.
Fine sanding:
The final touch for the ideal wood surface. The preparatory work to remove residues and coarse unevenness has been completed so that finer grits can be used now. For fine sanding, we recommend using a sanding belt with grit 120 and finer. The last small imperfections are getting removed. Fine wood dust will settle on the wooden surface. It should be removed regulary from the surface, otherwise there is a risk of sanding the deposits back into the wood and creating new unevenness. Only work with the wood grain.
Flap sander with abrasive grain for high-speed machines.
For visible surfaces of wooden workpieces two or more coats are required. The intermediate lacquer sanding is applied between the coats and builds the ideal basis for the subsequent, final lacquer application. This sanding process can be used for sealers, primers or primer coats.
The primary aim of intermediate sanding is to prepare the surface to be painted for the final coat as well as possible. With Osborn sanding tools you can achieve a homogeneous, smoothed surface. This makes painting work much easier, as the sanding ensures improved adhesion of the paint. Subsequent work, such as polishing or final sanding, is also simplified and shortened.
